Sam Grow
“It costs nothing to dream, everything not to.” –Sam Grow

A musical jack-of-all-trades, pop-rock-soul singer songwriter Sam Grow is a skilled guitarist, pianist, bassist, and drummer. Born in southern Maryland, Grow discovered a passion for music by the age of five when his biggest musical influences- his father and sister, would spend their afternoons around the piano, singing and playing as a young Sam would watch on. Throughout his childhood, Sam’s father introduced him to great artists such as The Righteous Brothers, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, and Elvis Presley who would influence him throughout his musical career. After sensing his musical enthusiasm, Sam’s family encouraged him to sing in their church choir—where he actively participated for several years.

As Sam grew older he began to attend music festivals and taught himself to play not only the guitar- which would become his instrument of choice, but also educating himself on the piano, bass, and drums. Although he was playing music on the side, Grow attended the College of Southern Maryland for a year pursing a business degree, but soon decided his energies were divided and chose to pursue music full time. His family supported his decision completely. Sam shares, “My family has always believed in doing what you love, and the money will come. They taught me to not settle for anything short of my dreams, goals, and aspirations. To coin a phrase, the general attitude has been, ‘It costs nothing to dream, everything not to.’ I like to go by that.”

Grow headed into the studio in late 2007 to record his debut album with producer Ron Vento [Wakefield, Good Charlotte, and Genuine]. That album, “Ignition,” went on to sell approximately 10,000 copies in Sam’s local market in one year, and was very well received amongst his fans, peers and press.

After the independent success of his second release, a live album entitled “Live at Goose Creek”, Sam returned to Nightsky Studios with Vento to record a series of songs that would later become the “Rainy Day in Paradise” and “Stay The Night” EP’s. These highly anticipated recordings continue to highlight the strength and range in Sam’s voice, complimented with his heartfelt lyrics. Most recently, Grow released the singles “Lay You Down”, and “Let’s Make Love”, which reached #13 and #7 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart.

He sincerely believes in the power of the indie artist, “Artists today can obtain their own distribution, record their own CDs and hire their own promotions team. It is amazing how the music industry has evolved and allowed people whose music you may have never been able to hear, accessible and available,” he shares.

Grow has already toured the U.S., having performed with Jeff Scott Soto [Journey], Josh Kelley, Sister Hazel, Kanye West, Tony Lucca, Keaton Simons and a number of the industries most well respected singer/songwriters, and continues to perform regularly with a schedule that consists of 250+ shows a year.
